KU's Briscoe And Stuckey Named To Preseason All-Big 12 Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe and safety Darrell Stuckey were named to the 2009 Media Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team it was announced by the league office on Friday.

Briscoe, a junior, was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection in 2008. He heads into 2009 as the nation’s second-leading returning wide receiver based on receiving yards. Last year the Dallas, Texas native recorded 108.23 yards per game as he had 92 catches for 1,407 yards and 15 touchdowns. Both his yardage total and touchdown numbers were school single-season records.

Stuckey, a senior, was KU’s lone All-Big 12 First Team selection a year ago. He recorded 98 tackles, five interceptions, seven passes broken up, two fumbles forced and one fumble recovery last year. Stuckey led the team in interceptions and was second in tackles and passes broken up. His 12 passes defended (seven breakups and five interceptions) tied for the team lead.

Darrell Stuckey was an All-Big 12 First Team selection in 2008.

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford was named the preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year. Baylor defensive tackle Phil Taylor was selected as the Newcomer of the Year.

The annual Big 12 Football Media Days will be held in Irving, Texas, July 27-29 with Kansas taking part on Tuesday, July 28. Live video coverage will be featured each day on Big12Sports.com.
