Andrew Storm Paces Field After Round One at 99th Kansas Amateur

MISSION HILLS, Kan. –

Recent University of Kansas graduate Andrew Storm fired a first round 67 to grab the lead at the 99th Kansas Amateur at Kansas City Country Club. Storm carded five birdies on his round.

Senior Patrick Roth shot a first round 71 and is tied for seventh place entering the second round. The Prairie Village, Kan. native finished runner-up at last year’s Kansas Amateur.

Former Jayhawk Conrad Roberts shot a 72 and is tied for 16th place. Roberts currently resides in Lawrence, Kan.

Head coach Kit Grove, along with his former player Zach Pederson, both shot rounds of 72 to place tied for 24th after round one.

Junior Nate Barbee shot a 74 and is tied for 34th place. Sophomore Blake Giroux carded a 77 to tie for 65th place and fellow Omaha, Neb. native junior Bobby Knowles shot a 78 to enter round two tied for 84th place. Former Jayhawk Pete Krsnich is tied with Giroux and a host of other players for 65th place.

The second round will be the final round of stroke play. The top 64 players will advance to match play beginning on Thursday morning.
