KU Football To Hold First Practice Friday Morning

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Kansas football veterans and newcomers reported for fall camp on Thursday and the players will hit the field for the first time in 2007 on Friday morning.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The players will run through single practices Friday through Tuesday, before undergoing their first two-a-day practice on Wednesday. The team will practice without pads on Friday and Saturday before donning shoulder pads Sunday and Monday.

“Our players are excited,” said Kansas head coach Mark Mangino. “They look like they are energized and ready to go. We are looking forward to getting training camp off on a high note and we believe it will.”

Sunday’s practice, which begins at 9 a.m., is open to the public. The workout will take place on the grass fields just west of the baseball stadium.

The Jayhawks will open the season hosting Central Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. The contest is the first of four straight home games for KU to begin the 2007 campaign.
