Jayhawks Perform Well In Rainy Conditions Monday

Aug. 15, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Despite a rain-drenched morning practice, the Kansas football team had a solid practice performance, while returning to work Monday after taking a much needed day off. Going through their third two-a-day during Fall Camp, the Jayhawks worked hard after getting some rest Sunday.

“They came out with some good energy after having a day off,” said Kansas head coach Turner Gill. “The offense looked great to start the day and the defense was more dominant to finish off practice. It was good to see both sides of the ball competing hard and making adjustments.”

Gill announced on Monday that sophomore Randall Dent has returned to the defensive side of the ball. Dent, a Dallas native, played defense tackle his first two seasons with the program before moving to the offensive line during spring practice. He is now listed as a defensive tackle.

Additionally, Gill announced that senior defensive tackle Patrick Dorsey suffered a broken foot and will miss six to eight weeks of action.

The Jayhawks will open the season Saturday, Sept. 3, when they play host to McNeese State. KU-MSU will kick-off at 6 p.m., at Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium. Tickets are available via the web at kuathletics.com, by calling 1-800-34-HAWKS or by stopping by the ticket office on the southeast corner of Allen Fieldhouse.
