LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer will open the 2012 season against UC Santa Barbara Friday at 5 p.m., and for the first time ever, fans will be able to watch a live video feed from the KU Soccer Complex.

Kansas broadcast its 9-0, exhibition win over Eastern Illinois last weekend as part of a free audio stream on AT&T Jayhawk All-Access, but thanks to an upgrade in wireless technology at the Jayhawks’ home field live video will be added. Kansas soccer play-by-play announcer Pete Knutson will have the call of both matches this weekend, which will be offered as a free sample of AT&T Jayhawk All-Access, Kansas Athletics’ live event hub at KUAthletics.com.

KU’s match against Gauchos will kick off at 5 p.m. Friday and Sunday’s contest against Northwestern will begin at 1 p.m. A separate live audio stream will also be available for those with slower connections or individuals who have purchased the live audio subscription through Kansas Athletics’ mobile app for android or iOS devices.

Kansas enters the 2012 season with high hopes, coming off an 11-9-1 finish in 2011. The Jayhawks qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time under head coach Mark Francis last season, falling to Georgia in the opening round. KU returns 10 starters from last year’s squad, including its top six scorers, three starting defenders and its starting goalkeeper.
