Aug. 20, 2004

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas announced this week its schedule of promotional events to accompany the 2004 Jayhawk soccer season. This season, fans will have a chance to take advantage of events at all of KU’s eight home matches.

The team will begin its final preparations for the season Saturday by hosting Creighton in an exhibition match. Fans will be able to participate in Hawk Week activites which will include a pre-game tail gate party, live DJ and prizes. Girls Scouts who come to the Sept. 5 game against St. Louis in their scout’s uniform will be admitted to the match free of charge.

Fans can bring their appetite to the Sept. 24 match against Nebraska which will be “Quarter Dog Day.” Fans can purchase a hot dog for only $0.25 and the first 500 to come through the gates will receive a Jayhawk rally towel.

In the team’s regular season finale against Iowa State on Oct. 29, fans can get in the “spirit” by coming to the game dressed in Halloween costumes. A contest will be held and the fan with the best costume will receive a prize. The Iowa State match will also be Senior Night, when KU will honor the team’s seven seniors who will be playing for the final time at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
