Lawrence, Kan. –

Jayhawk golfer Tyler Docking was part of a four-member team that won the “Access to Fun” engineering design competition named last week. Docking and teammates Matthew Hess, Carla Hines, and Francis Hitschmann won the contest that was sponsored by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions and the U.S. Access Board. The entrants were charged with developing new designs that would allow for greater disabled access on amusement park rides and attractions.

The team placed first out of 13 entrants and will share the $5,000 reward. They will also be given additional funds that will allow them to build a design that will be presented at the association’s trade show in Atlanta. The November showcase will be a chance for the Olathe, Kan., native and his teammates to sell their product to potential buyers.
