LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas Athletics has announced that the Booth Family Hall of Athletics, located inside Allen Fieldhouse, will offer fans an opportunity to explore the new attraction during the excitement of KU home football gamedays. Opened in January 2006, the Booth Family Hall of Athletics celebrates the rich heritage and tradition of Kansas Athletics over a sprawling 26,000 sq. feet. Divided into six distinct attractions, the Booth Family Hall of Athletics features displays of athletes and programs currently competing for KU as well as cases focusing on individual decades. Fans can see stories, trophies and artifacts earned by Jayhawks from as far back as 1882 to the four Big 12 championships earned by KU during the 2005-06 season.

The result of a generous gift from the Booth Family, the Hall of Athletics also features interactive displays that allow guests to search for past and present athletes who competed in the crimson and blue, and read about their achievements. Guests can also experience the sensation of walking on the different playing surfaces on which KU athletes compete. Numerous video screens on display throughout the Hall of Athletics also allow guests to relive many of the thrilling moments in Kansas Athletics history.

The Hall also honors Dr. F.C. “Phog” Allen, the legendary KU basketball coach and namesake of Allen Fieldhouse, and his mentor, Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of the game of basketball and the first basketball coach at Kansas. One of the most exciting artifacts in the Hall is the centercourt panel from the original 1955 floor of Allen Fieldhouse.

In addition, KUstore.com is located in the Booth Family Hall of Athletics for guests to browse through before heading up Mount Oread for the excitement of a Kansas football game.

Kansas will play seven home football games this season at Memorial Stadium, beginning with the season opener on Sept. 2 against Northwestern State. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Normal hours of operation for the Booth Family Hall of Athletics are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with gameday exceptions.
