KU Soccer Trying for Weekend Sweep vs. UNLV

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer will look for its first undefeated weekend of the 2012 campaign when the Jayhawks host UNLV at 1 p.m., Sunday at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. The match will be the second of the day as part of the Kansas Invitational and will follow the Georgia-South Dakota State contest at 10:30 a.m.

On Sunday the Jayhawks will celebrate Women in Sports Day, admitting all women for only $3. KU Soccer will also recognize those who attended their camps this summer, giving free admission to all their 2012 summer campers. Fans will have a chance to take advantage of Dip-N-Dots for just $3. Members of the Kansas soccer team will be made available for autographs following the match.

Kansas is coming off its first shutout of the year, a 1-0 victory over the 24th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs Friday, which improved the Jayhawks to 2-1 this season. Junior Caroline Kastor tallied her second goal of the year and the eventual game-winner in the 22nd minute of the first half, while senior goalkeeper Kat Liebetrau moved up to third in the all-time school record books with her ninth career shutout.

Kansas leads the all-time series with UNLV, 2-0-1, with all three meetings coming between 2001-04. Most recently, the Jayhawks knocked off the Rebels, 2-0, on Aug. 28, 2004 in Las Vegas.
