Garlington and Mayfield Named to All-Tournament Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – –

Junior Karina Garlington and sophomore Allison Mayfield, members of the Kansas volleyball team, were both named to the MTSU Invitational All-Tournament Team for their efforts in helping the Jayhawks to a 2-1 record in their opening weekend.

A 6-0 outside hitter, Garlington led KU with 2.91 kps during the tournament, while also adding four service aces and three solo blocks. The Denver, Colo., native led the team in kills in two of its matches, including a season-high of 13 during KU’s last match of the weekend.

Mayfield wrapped up the tournament averaging 2.55 kps on a .309 attack percentage. She also added 2.00 dps along with a pair of service aces. The 6-1 hitter tallied double-digit kills in two of Kansas’ three matches and recorded her first career double-double with 10 kills and team-high 11 digs in the Jayhawks’ match versus Murray State.

Garlington and Mayfield were joined on the all-tournament team by Claire Pazkiewicz and Hillary Otte from Xavier and Stacy Oladinni, Leslie Clark and tournament MVP Izabela Kozon from Middle Tennessee State.
