Reesing Earns National Honor From Website

Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing guided the Jayhawks to a convincing 52-7 win against defending Mid American Conference champion Central Michigan last Saturday and for his efforts was named the CollegeSportsReport.com Division I Performer of the Week it was announced on Tuesday.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Reesing, a sophomore from <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Austin, Texas made his starting debut against the Chippewas and responded by hitting 20 of 29 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns. Reesing played in three games as a true freshman in 2006 and was a combined 14 of 24 for 204 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions a year ago.

Reesing became the third straight KU quarterback to lead the Jayhawks to a victory in his starting debut. Through NCAA games played Saturday, Reesing ranks 11th in the nation in pass efficiency (19.098) and 25th in total offense (269.00).

In addition, Kansas was the site’s Big 12 team of the week.

The website also announced that the Wyoming Cowboys were the division I FBS team of the week for their 23-3 win against Virginia. Wyoming accumulated 471 yards of total offense, while holding Virginia to just 110 yards.

Kansas returns to action hosting Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m.
