Alumni to Host Tailgate Prior to KU Soccer Match Friday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The KU Alumni Association will hold a tailgate before the Kansas-Missouri State soccer match Friday, Sept. 7 in the parking lot of the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. The event will be held from 3-5 p.m., and is open to the public. Free hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be provided to the first 200 fans in attendance. The event is part of alumni weekend which is welcoming KU soccer players from past Jayhawk teams.

The soccer alums will take part in a host of social gatherings over the weekend including an alumni pick-up game Saturday. The group will then be honored at halftime of the KU-NC State match Sunday.

Special Olympians will highlight the in-match festivities Friday, playing in a scrimmage at halftime. Fans who aren’t able to attend the tailgate can take advantage of 2-3-4 Friday, which includes $2 popcorn, $3 nachos and pretzels and $4 jumbo hotdogs.

The women’s soccer team will try for its third-straight undefeated weekend when it takes on the Missouri State Bears at 5 p.m., Friday. Two-time Big 12 Player of the Week, freshman Ashley Williams and her teammates will then turn around for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the North Carolina State Wolfpack at 12 p.m.
