Kansas Women's Golf Opens 2011 Fall Season at Dale McNamara Invitational Monday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior leader Katy Nugent and redshirt sophomore Thannuttra (Fhong) Boonraksasat will lead the Kansas women’s golf team into Owasso, Okla., to kick-off the season at the Dale McNamara Invitational Monday through Wednesday, September 12-14. The tournament will take place at The Patriot Golf Club (6,450-yard, par 72), with 18 holes each day concluding on Wednesday.
Nugent averaged 76.03 strokes per contest her first season with the Jayhawks last year with her best finish coming at the Jayhawks’ home tournament (Marilynn Smith Invitational) where she finished second.
Boonraksasat also had a strong season in 2010-11 averaging 75.75 strokes per round and finished fourth at last year’s Ole Miss Rebel Challenge, her career best finish.
Joining Nugent and Boonraksasat in the Kansas lineup are sophomore Meghan Potee and freshmen Nadia Luttner and Michelle Woods.
Head coach Erin O’Neil is looking forward to the challenge this course and tournament will bring to her team.
“This tournament has a very competitive field on a tough golf course and will be a good test for us out of the gates,” said head coach Erin O’Neil. “We have a great combination of experience and youth in this line-up and I’m looking forward to seeing how we do.”
The Jayhawks will be facing some familiar competition at the event with Big 12 rivals Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Iowa State. Other schools competing include Arizona State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, UCF, Longwood, Middle Tennessee State, Northwestern, Southern Miss, Oral Roberts and Tulsa.
The tournament will start at 8 a.m., on Monday and conclude Wednesday afternoon. The Jayhawks tee times are as follows:

2. Thanuttra Boonraksasat, RS So. 10:10 a.m.
3. Nadia Luttner, Fr. 10:00 a.m.
4. Meghan Potee, So. 9:50 a.m.
5. Michelle Woods, Fr. 9:40 a.m.
