Women's Golf Finishes 13th At Dick McGuire Invitational

The University of Kansas women’s golf team finished in 13th place, in a 17-team field, at the 26th Annual Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Jayhawks shot a 307 third round score for a three-round total of 927.

“We have a pretty young team,” head coach Erin O’Neil said. “It was a good first tournament so that I could get a feel for them and they could get a feel for me.”

Georgia held on to first place at with an 874, followed by host New Mexico who finished with an 881 and Pepperdine who shot an 882.

Junior Chelsey Pryor tied the Kansas record for the lowest round in a tournament with a 69. Her 4-under performance tied for the second best round of the day as well as the second best round of the tournament. The Washington, Pa. native ended the tournament in a tie for 22nd with a three round total of 225. Junior Tiffany Woods carded a third round 80 to tie for 60th. Sophomore Amanda Costner shot a third round 78 to place in a tie for 65th. Junior Meredith Winkelmann finished with an 80 that placed her in a tie for 70th, and sophomore Jill Womble shot an 80 that put her in a tie for 74th.

Kansas will next be in action on Sept. 24-26 as they participate in the 2004 Jeannine McHaney Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.
