Jayhawks in Eighth after Two Rounds at Chip-N-Club Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Kansas women’s golf team is in eighth place heading into Tuesday’s final 18 holes after shooting a 36 over par 612, Monday at the Chip-N-Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. Playing in their first event of the season, the team shot a 306 in both the first and second rounds at the par-72, 6,608 yard Wilderness Ridge Golf Course.

Junior Emily Powers and Sophomore Grace Thiry lead the team individually after both shot a two-round score of 150, which ties them for 11th place. Junior Meghan Gockel and Sophomore Meghna Bal finished tied for 41st with a 156, while Sophomore Sydney Wilson shot a 169.

Arkansas-Little Rock leads the event by one stroke over host University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mary Kate Bird of UNL sits atop the individual leaderboard after posting a 2-under 142 on the day.
