KU's Morris Named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team of the Week

Sept. 21, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas junior Rachel Morris has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com’s National Women’s Team of the Week, for the week of Sept. 21. Morris becomes the second Jayhawk to be named to the website’s team of the week, along with teammate Monica Dolinsky, who was honored on Sept. 7.

Morris, a junior from Overland Park, Kan., scored three goals and added an assist in KU’s victories over then-No. 18 San Diego and South Dakota State. The junior forward tallied the fastest goal to start a match in Jayhawk history on Sunday, just 23 seconds into the match against South Dakota State. She also added another goal and an assist against the Jackrabbits for the best offensive performance by an individual this season.

TopDrawerSoccer.com is a website devoted to the sport of soccer. Each week, the editors of the site pick a Team of the Week in both men’s and women’s college soccer.

Morris and the 18th-ranked Jayhawks will travel to Oklahoma to open conference play against Oklahoma State on Friday, before wrapping up their non-league schedule at Oral Roberts on Sunday.
