Women's Basketball Out Promoting Awareness for Women's Sports

Sept. 21, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas women’s basketball players visited fellow students at Mrs. E’s cafeteria, a KU dining hall on campus, Wednesday evening to help promote the team and celebrate women’s sports at Kansas.

Kansas Athletics teamed up with KU Dining Services to put together the event where the team joined its classmates to raise awareness and improve attendance at women’s athletic events. At the dining hall, the Jayhawks signed autographs and handed out t-shirts and keychains while encouraging students to attend more sporting events this season.

“It was a fun event and something different to help promote women’s sports here at KU,” said sophomore CeCe Harper. “We enjoyed walking around the cafeteria and talking with new people. I think it definitely got them thinking about basketball season so hopefully we can get even more fans at our games this year.”

The women’s basketball team joined the women’s swimming and diving and volleyball teams at Mrs. E’s throughout the evening, while the soccer and tennis teams appeared at the Oliver Hall cafeteria.
