Tennis To Compete In Tulsa Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas tennis team heads to Tulsa, Okla., this weekend for the Tulsa Invitational at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Play begins on Friday, Sept. 24, and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 26. KU will compete against five other programs including Tulsa, Wichita State, Illinois State, Texas-Arlington and Southwest Missouri State, in the three-day tournament.

Though the `Hawks were scheduled to open their season at the Seahawk Invitational Sept. 17-19, the team was unable to make the trip to Wilmington, N.C., due to weather conditions and travel complications.

Head coach Amy Hall-Holt welcomes back four players from a year ago including junior Christine Skoda, junior Luiza Loureiro, sophomore Brittany Brown and sophomore Ashley Filberth. Joining the mix will be a trio of freshmen including Lauren Hommell, Anna Jackson and Stephanie Smith. Returning to the KU sidelines in 2004-05 is assistant coach Frank Polito. Polito served his first stint at KU in 1996.
