Allen Fieldhouse Ranks in Top 10 of Old School Venues

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Allen Fieldhouse has been named one of the top 10 old school venues in the country by FoxSports.com. Entering its 54th year, Allen Fieldhouse ranked with other historic venues such as Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, and Lambeau Field.

According to the article, Allen Fieldhouse represents a state-of-the-art arena where college students wave their hands in the deep end zone. It also sites the tradition and history of the arena, remembering the days of Wilt Chamberlain, James Naismith, and Phog Allen.

Coming off of an undefeated home schedule (20-0), last year’s Jayhawks men’s basketball team contributed to 15 out of 54 undefeated seasons. Allen Fieldhouse has ranked first in its conference’s home attendance for 22 straight seasons and has 111 consecutive sellouts heading into the 2008-2009 season.
