Women's Golf Finishes 13th At Jeannie McHaney Invitational

Lubbock, Texas –

The University of Kansas women’s golf team finished in 13th place, in an 18-team field, after shooting a 317 in the final round of the Jeannie McHaney Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.

Kansas finished the tournament with a two-round total of 628. The second round of the tournament was canceled due to inclement weather. Notre Dame finished in first place with 593, while Oklahoma took second with a 597.

Sophomore Amanda Costner shot a second round 75 to tie for 17th. Junior Tiffany Woods shot a second round total of 77 to tie for 47th. Junior Chelsey Pryor carded an 82 while sophomore Jill Womble shot an 85 to tie for 76th. Junior Meredith Winkelmann shot a final round score of 83 to tie for 86th. Freshman Annie Giangrosso, playing as an individual, shot a final round 78 in her first career tournament and tied for 74th.

“Our short game and course management was better than the last tournament,” head coach Erin O’Neil said. “We kind of struggled in other areas but we are making progress and I can see that.”

The Jayhawks will next be in action on Oct.4-6 as they travel to Las Cruces, N.M. for Price’s “Give `Em Five” Intercollegiate.
