KU's Boonraksasat Tied for Fourth Following Day One of Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Thanuttra Boonraksasat fired two rounds of 74 and is tied for fourth place individually, while leading the Kansas women’s golf team to a fourth-place team standing after day one of the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational Monday.
Boonraksasat enters Tuesday’s final round eight strokes behind Malin Lundberg of Arkansas-Little Rock. Lundberg shot 70-70-140 to lead the tournament.
Kansas is in fourth place and 18 strokes behind the leader Arkansas-Little Rock, which shot 590. Host Kansas State is in second place at 599. Kansas opened the day with a 307 team total and cut six shots off that score in the afternoon with a 301 for a 608 total.
Sophomore Thanuttra Boonraksasat leads Kansas after firing two rounds of 74 and is tied for fourth place while freshmen Nadia Luttner and Gabriella DiMarco shot two rounds of 77 to be in a tie for 18th.
The Jayhawks were in sixth place following the first round but a second round score of 301 helped the team jump ahead of Oral Roberts and UMKC for possession of fourth place.
Senior Katy Nugent shook off a first round score of 83 to turn in a one-over par 73 in the second round to finish the first day tied for 29th.
Freshman Michelle Woods shot rounds of 79 and 78 to finish tied for 34th.
Competing as individuals, Meghan Potee is in a tie for 40th with a 158 on the day and Audrey Yowell is in 49th place with a two-round total of 160.
The final round of the Marilynn Smith Invitational will be held on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
