Berry and Vidal Named to Big 12 Top 20 Rankings

Sept. 27, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Junior Whitney Berry and freshman Ingrid Vidal of the Kansas soccer team have both been named a Big 12 Conference Top 20 Player according to rankings released by TopDrawerSoccer.com Tuesday.

One of three midfielders named to the list, Berry is tied for the national lead with eight assists so far this season. She also owns four goals for a total of 16 points, which is tied for the sixth-best total in the Big 12. An aggressive attacker, the Wichita, Kan., native also ranks second in the league with 4.09 shots per game.

Like Berry, Vidal has started all 11 of Kansas’ contests this season and is tied for second in the Big 12 with eight goals in 2011, while her 21 points rank third. A native of Palmira, Colombia, Vidal has collected at least one point in nine matches, including a season-high five points (two goals, one assist) versus Oral Roberts on Sept. 25. The Jayhawk forward was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week twice earlier this year on Aug. 30 and Sept. 6.

Kansas is preparing for a tough conference weekend in which the Jayhawks take on Texas on Friday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. and nationally-ranked Texas A&M on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
