With a 7-2 record at home this season, the University of Kansas volleyball team (10-5, 1-3 Big 12) will try to bounce back from two road losses last week when it hosts Border Showdown rival Missouri (10-4, 2-2 Big 12) on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. The match will be televised in Lawrence on Metro Sports (Sunflower Broadband channel 37). Brenda VanLengen and former Jayhawk and KU’s all-time digs leader Jill Dorsey will be calling the action.

KU’s offense will rely on junior Allison Mayfield and senior Karina Garlington. Mayfield led Kansas with 3.11 kps in two matches last week and is second on the team with 3.02 kills per set. Garlington is eighth in the conference averaging a team-best 3.28 kills per set and has 11-plus kills in her last four matches. Guiding the offense are setters Kara Wehrs and Nicole Tate. Wehrs leads the team with 8.64 aps but Tate has started the last two matches for KU and owns a team-best 9.06 aps during Big 12 matches.

Defensively, the Jayhawks rank fourth in the Big 12 limiting opponents to a .156 attack percentage with the help of freshman libero Brianne Riley. Riley, last week’s Big 12 Rookie of the Week, is ninth in the league with 3.89 dps. Sophomore Tayler Tolefree and redshirt freshman Caroline Jarmoc have been effective at the net averaging 0.93 bps and 0.86 bps, respectively, and both have seven matches with four-plus blocks this season. Tolefree has also recorded a .409 attack percentage in her last two outings.

Kansas trails the all-time series with Missouri 49-32 and will look to stop a five-match skid versus the Tigers.
