Kansas Cross Country Travels to Madison, Wis. to compete in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

After a strong showing at the Missouri Cross Country challenge, the Kansas cross-country team will travel to Madison, Wis. to compete in the 2010 Wisconsin adidas Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010.

The Jayhawk men captured first place, with six runners placing in the top-10, while the women placed second, and had four runners in the top-10, at the Missouri Cross Country Challenge on Sept. 11, 2010.

The KU women’s team will be lead by sophomores Allie Marquis and Tessa Turcotte, who placed second and third, respectively, in the Missouri meet, as well as sophomore Kyra Kilwein and junior Cori Christensen who also placed in the top-10.

Also competing at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course will be senior Amanda Miller, juniors Rebeka Stowe, Devin Wiegers and Kara Windisch, sophomores Mackenzie Abernathy and Kathleen Thompson, and freshman Natalie Becker.

The Jayhawk men’s team will be lead by Junior Donny Wassinger who placed first overall at the Missouri Cross Country Challenge with a time of 25:17:45, along with Nick Caprario, a senior, who placed second. The Jayhawks will also be lead by junior Austin Bussing and freshmen Jose Munoz and Josh Munsch, who all placed in the top-10. Although junior Zach Zarda, who also finished in the top-10 this past week, will not be competing,

Senior Clay Schneider, sophomores Josh Baden, Kaman Schneider, and Ben Wilson, along with freshmen Nikki Trooien-Smith and Emilio Trujillo will also be heavily relied upon this weekend.
