COLUMBIA, Mo. — Another strong performance from junior Emily Powers has the Kansas women’s golf team in a tie for 6th place after day one at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo. Due to darkness, seven teams, including Kansas, were unable to complete all 36 holes at the Club of Old Hawthorne, and will finish their remaining holes prior to the start of the final round of play Tuesday.

Powers, a junior from Quincy, Ill., currently sits in a tie for 10th place after shooting a four-over-par 148 through 35 holes. The only Jayhawk to complete both rounds was sophomore Jennifer Clark, whose 36-hole total of 152 is good for a 12th place tie. Three other Jayhawks – sophomores Meghna Bal (153, tie 24th) and Grace Thiry (160, tie 50th) and freshman Kalynd Carson (162, tie 59th) – also completed 17 holes before the second round was suspended.

Arkansas-Little Rock sits atop the field of 17 heading into the final round after the Trojans fired a seventeen-over-par 593 on Monday.

Teams with holes remaining will finish their rounds before the start of round three, which scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Check back to kuathletics.com for a complete recap and results of the final round of play.
