Jayhawks Host Pep Rally in Olathe

Oct. 3, 2009

OLATHE, Kan. – Taking a weekend off from its nationally-ranked football team, Kansas fans congregated in Olathe for a pep rally during KU’s off football weekend.

Sponsored the Kansas Athletics and the KU Alumni Association, Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self and KU staff addressed the crowd of more than 1,400 outside Johnny’s Tavern with the KU band, cheerleaders and mascots in full support.

The family-friendly KU event included inflatables for kids, merchant giveaways and plenty of KU flair. Self discussed the upcoming basketball season, including information about the KU Gridiron Club, the 3,000-seat club-seating facility planned for the east side of Memorial Stadium. Self also received checks from event sponsors – the Salty Iguana – for his Assist Foundation.

Following Self address to the crowd, the band RockDaddy kept the fesitivities going through the evening.
