Pryor Wins ORU Shootout, Jayhawks Finish Second

The University of Kansas women’s golf team finished in second place, in a 17-team field, at the ORU Shootout. The Jayhawks shot a 309 in the final round at the Meadow Brook Country Club. Senior Chelsey Pryor took first place, her first career win, after a final round of 78. She won the tournament by one shot.
“We wanted to win this tournament,” head coach Erin O’Neil said. “However, I think we learned a lot from this that we can use throughout the season. I am very proud of Chelsey. It is tough to go into the last day and hold on to the lead and she was able to do that.”
Oral Roberts, the host school, took home the tournament title with a 913, while KU was six strokes back.
Junior Amanda Costner shot a final round of 75 to finish in a tie for seventh. Sophomore Annie Giangrosso placed in a tie for ninth after a 76 on Tuesday. Junior Jill Womble tied for 18th with after an 81 in the final round. Senior Meredith Winkelmann tied for 52nd after her final round 80. Sophomore Sarah Kierl, playing as an individual, shot a final round score of 85 to tie for 67th.
The Jayhawks will be back in action on Oct. 10-11 at the Marilynn Smith Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.
