Oct. 4, 2011

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. –

Senior Ekaterina Morozova went 0-2 in singles competition Tuesday on the first day of qualifying rounds for the 2011 ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Tennis Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Morozova was one of 64 tennis athletes selected for the qualifying draw of the tournament.

“These were Kate’s first fall matches and you could tell she wasn’t match ready yet,” Kansas head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “It was still a good start for her and hopefully these two matches will help her get ready for doubles on Thursday.”

In the first round, Morozova lost to South Carolina’s Anya Morgina, 6-3, 6-4. The senior from Togliatte, Russia, then fell to Aleksandra Josifoska from UNLV, 6-4, 7-5 to be eliminated from singles play.

Morozova and sophomore Dylan Windom will compete in the main doubles draw of the ITA Championships on Thursday. Please check back with kuathletics.com for results from the tournament.
