Dezmon Briscoe

Former Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe, who played at KU from 2007-09, was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 6 after being released by the Cincinnati Bengals and placed on the practice squad. The Buccaneers had a bye week in Week 4. As a member of the practice squad, he can be activated and added to the 53-man roster at any time. Practice squad players can be promoted to the active roster of their current team or to that of any other team. They have free agent status and can sign with any team they wish without compensation to the original team. Briscoe was selected by Cincinnati in sixth round of this year’s draft.

Anthony Collins

Offensive lineman Anthony Collins, who played at KU from 2005-07, was inactive for the Cincinnati Bengals’ 23-20 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Collins suffered an ankle injury in the Bengals’ first preseason game, and missed the team’s final four weeks of exhibition contests as well as the Week 1 game against New England, but played in Weeks 2 and 3. Collins is in his third season with Cincinnati after being selected in the 2008 NFL Draft. He has played 25 games in his NFL career, making 13 starts.

Marcus Henry

Wide receiver Marcus Henry, who played at KU from 2004-07, was picked up by the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 24. Henry, who spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets, was assigned to the Panthers’ practice squad. As a member of the practice squad, he can be activated and added to the 53-man roster at any time. Henry was selected by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

James Holt

Linebacker James Holt, who played at KU from 2005-08, was injured in San Diego’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 26 and was placed on injured reserve, meaning he will miss the remainder of the 2010 season. Holt finishes his 2010 season with two tackles on special teams. Holt was an undrafted free agent signee by the Chargers in 2009, and played in nine games recording 10 tackles a season ago.

Kerry Meier

Former KU wide receiver Kerry Meier, who played at KU from 2006-09, injured his knee in his second preseason game for the Atlanta Falcons against the New England Patriots on Aug. 20 and will miss the 2010 season. Meier recorded one catch for seven yards in the game against Patriots – and had three catches in the preseason. According to an Associated Press story, Meier was on his way to earning a spot on the Falcons’ team as a backup wide receiver.

Moran Norris

Former Kansas fullback Moran Norris, who played at KU from 1996-2000, started at fullback for the San Francisco 49ers in the team’s 16-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Norris made a catch for eight yards in the first quarter on a 49ers’ touchdown drive. Norris was originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions in addition to a season with the Saints and three with the 49ers.

Darrell Stuckey

Former Kansas safety Darrell Stuckey, who played at KU from 2006-09, was inactive for San Diego’s 41-10 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday. Stuckey was also inactive for the first two games of the season, but will likely see some increased opportunities in the coming weeks as Charger safety Steven Gregory was suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Stuckey was injured early in the preseason, but played in San Diego’s final two exhibition games. He was selected in the fourth round by the Chargers in this year’s NFL Draft.

Aqib Talib

Former Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib, who played at KU from 2005-07, is in his third season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which had its bye week last weekend. Talib missed the first game of the year due to suspension, but had made interceptions in each of the last last two games. He has played in 32 games for the Bucs over two-plus seasons, making 91 tackles and 11 interceptions in his professional career. Talib was selected by Tampa Bay in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
