Smith Selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas junior forward Caroline Smith was selected to Soccer America’s Team of the Week for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3. The honor was the second time this season a Jayhawk has received the award, as sophomore defender Holly Gault was selected on Sept. 2.

Smith tallied eight points in two games last week to give her the team-lead in goals (six), assists (five) and points (17). Against Texas Tech, the Edina, Minn., native took a team-high seven shots and was able to break through with her fourth goal of the season in the 37th minute. In the second half, she assisted on another Kansas goal. Smith scored five points in the Baylor win off two goals and an assist. She recorded the assist in the first half before adding the two second-half goals less than a minute apart.

The No. 10 Jayhawks will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Columbia, Mo., to battle Border Showdown rival Missouri at 7 p.m. at the Audrey J. Walton Soccer Complex.
