KU Places Sixth At Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. –

The University of Kansas women’s golf team finished in sixth place, in a 12-team field, at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. The Jayhawks shot a final round score of 311 for a 923 total at the Colbert Hills Golf Course.

TCU won the team title after leading all three rounds. Nebraska placed second by finishing 21 shots behind TCU.

Junior Amanda Costner finished in sixth after a final round 77 gave her a total of 220. Senior Chelsey Pryor carded a 75 to finish in tie for 25th with a 232 total. Sophomore Annie Giangrosso shot a 78 in the final round to place in a tie for 33rd. Senior Meredith Winkelmann totaled a 241 after a round of 81 put her in a tie for 43rd. Junior Jill Womble tied for 48th after a round of 81 gave her a 244 total. Sophomore Sarah Kierl, playing as an individual, finished in 47th with a 243.

The Jayhawks will next be in action at the Lady Razorback Invitational on Oct. 16-18 in Fayettville, Ark.
