LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas Athletics officials announced Tuesday that 27 of 29 women’s basketball games will be available to Jayhawk fans on television this season. One of the finest TV packages in the country, no other men’s or women’s team in the conference — other than the Kansas men — has a more comprehensive package.

“This television package is among the best in the country, and we’re excited to be able to give our fans the chance to follow us throughout the season,” KU head women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We have five games on national television, which is also a great advantage as we continue to get the word out about Kansas Basketball.”

Included in the package are two Fox Sports Net games as part of the Big 12 Conference package — at Iowa State on Feb. 18 and against Missouri in Lawrence on Feb. 25, as well as three games on FSN regional television. The Jayhawks have three national broadcasts on CSTV — the Big 12 opener against Texas on Jan. 3, at Baylor on Jan. 28 and against Kansas State on March 2. Locally, 14 games will be produced and aired by Sunflower Broadband in Lawrence, and five contests will be produced by Metro Sports of Kansas City.

The first chance to see the 2005-06 women’s basketball team in person is this Friday, Oct. 14, when the Jayhawks scrimmage during Late Night In The Phog, Kansas’ annual kickoff to the season. Doors to the event in Allen Fieldhouse open at 5:30 p.m.
