Lawrence, Kan – The University of Kansas tennis team will continue its fall season of play as the team heads to South Bend, Ind., for the Eck Classic Invitational at the Courtney Tennis Center. Play is set to begin on Friday Oct. 15, and concludes on Sunday, Oct. 17. The `Hawks will face off against No. 23 Michigan, No. 27 Notre Dame, No. 41 Ohio State and No. 63 Virginia.

Currently the team has a 9-5 record in singles competition with freshmen Lauren Hommell and Stephanie Smith leading the pack with 3-0 records. In doubles competition, the team looks to improve on its 4-3 record.

“This weekend will give the team a good indication of the competition that they will see this spring in conference play,” head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “For the freshmen, this will be their first chance to see some high-caliber talent. It should be a good test for the whole team.”

Following the Eck Classic, the Jayhawks will conclude their fall season at the ITA Regional tournament in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 20-24.
