Entercom, IMG College and Kansas Athletics Renew Broadcast Partnership

Oct. 13, 2010

Entercom Kansas City, Kansas Athletics and Jayhawk Sports Marketing, an IMG College property and the multimedia rights partner for Kansas Athletics, have announced that Entercom will continue to broadcast Kansas Athletics events in Kansas City through 2016.

Entercom has been a radio broadcast partner for Kansas Athletics through Jayhawks Sports Marketing since 2006.

Jayhawk football games will continue to air on 610 Sports Radio, as will the weekly Kansas football coach’s show, Hawk Talk.

KU men’s basketball broadcasts will air on 610 Sports, as will the weekly coach’s show. KU women’s basketball broadcasts will air on sister-station 1660 KXTR, along with the weekly coach’s show. Selected women’s games will air on 610 Sports.

From October through March, 610 Sports Radio will also air the weekly show, “Rock Chalk Sports Talk,” which focuses on all things Jayhawk Athletics. The program will air primarily Tuesday nights from 6-7 p.m.

In the event of a broadcast conflict with Royals baseball games (also carried by 610), football games will be moved to sister-station News Radio 980 KMBZ.

“We’re excited that the Jayhawk Radio Network will continue its partnership with Entercom,” said Kansas’ interim athletics director Sean Lester. “610’s strong signal, particularly at night, has given our teams terrific coverage in Eastern Kansas and into Missouri. This has made it easier for our fans to follow the Jayhawks.”

“We are pleased to continue our long-term partnership with Kansas Athletics and IMG,” said Entercom Kansas City Vice President and General Manager Dave Alpert. “Jayhawk fans across the Kansas City area will have a powerful signal they can turn to every game day and game night. With the addition of coaches’ shows and special features during the week across our brands, 610 Sports Radio and Entercom Kansas City are committed to providing the best coverage of KU in the region.”

“Entercom continues to be an integral part of the broadcast team in helping to deliver Kansas Athletics programming around the region,” added Jason Booker, General Manager of Jayhawk Sports Marketing. “We are excited not only to renew the partnership but also to expand the radio lineup to cover more sports shows and more broadcast times for Jayhawk fans.”
