Kansas Swimming and Diving Falls at Arizona Duals

TUCSON, Ariz. –

Despite two third-place finishes from sophomore Rebecca Swank, Kansas swimming and diving fell to Arizona State (157-105), Arizona (178-84) and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (131.5-128.5) Saturday, Oct. 16 in Tucson, Ariz. The Jayhawks are now 0-3 in dual competition.

Swank, a sophomore from Wichita, Kan., placed third in both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:07.88) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.28). Seniors Iuliia Kuzhil and Joy Bunting also took third place in the 100-yard backstroke (57.35) and 200-yard IM (2:06.50), respectively.

“We had one of our tougher meets to start the season with our trip to Tucson,” Kansas head coach Clark Campbell said. “Arizona, ASU and UNLV definitely challenged all of us. It was great training and racing outside against top competition.”

Kansas returns to the pool Friday, Oct. 29, to take on Big 12 rivals Missouri in Columbia, Mo. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
