Oct. 19, 2004

LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the third time this season, University of Kansas senior goalkeeper Meghan Miller was selected as the Big 12 Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.

The Seattle, Wash., native, collected her ninth and tenth shutouts of the season over the weekend, while leading the Jayhawks to road victories over Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Miller currently lead the conference in goals against average (0.32) and shutouts (10).

The ten shutouts by Miller this season are one off the single season-school record at Kansas, which was set by Miller in 2003 when she collected 11 whitewashes. Miller also tops the all-time KU list with 29 career shutouts and a career goals against average of 0.97.

Miller is joined this week by two Longhorns as Texas senior forward Kelly McDonald was selected as the Big 12’s Offensive Player of the Week and Texas freshman forward Kelsey Carpenter was named the Newcomer of the Week.
