Windom Falls in Qualifying Rounds at ITA Regionals

TULSA, Okla. – Kansas junior Dylan Windom lost to Saint Louis’ Mia Elmore Thursday in round one of the qualifying draw at the ITA Regional Championships, 6-7(2), 6-2, 1-0 (11-9).
Windom needed to advance through two qualifying rounds to join three of her teammates—senior Monica Pezzotti, sophomore Maria Belen Ludueña and freshman Maria Jose Cardona—in the main singles draw.
Pezzotti faces Stephanie Hollis of Saint Louis in the first round of the main singles draw, while Ludueña will play Nebraska’s Izabella Zgierska in Friday’s opening round. Cardona’s will also face a member of the Cornhuskers’ squad in her round one match—Nebraska junior Maike Zeppernick.
Pezzotti and Windom enter the main doubles draw as the No. 2 seed and received an opening-round bye. The nation’s 25th-ranked doubles duo will face the winner of the round one match between Southern Illinois’ Melanie Desart/Anastacia Simons and Wichita State’s Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul/Montse Blasco Fernandez.
Cardona and Ludueña are set to face Madison Cook and Madeline Jolly of Saint Louis in the first round of the main doubles draw.
