KU's Stuckey Named Quarterfinalist For Lott Trophy

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas safety Darrell Stuckey was named one of 20 quarterfinalists for the annual Lott Trophy it was announced Tuesday. The trophy is awarded to college football’s Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. The award recognizes athletic performance and personal character attributes.

Semifinalists will be announced Nov. 3 and four finalists will be named Nov. 24.

Stuckey, a senior from Kansas City, Kan., has averaged 8.3 tackles per game and has registered double-digit tackle totals in three of the last four games. In the last two games Stuckey has recorded 14 tackles against Iowa State and 12 stops at Colorado.

Earlier this season Stuckey was one of 11 players named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. He is on watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski and Bednarik Awards for the nation’s top defender and the Thorpe Award for the country’s top defensive back. He is also a Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award nominee.

No. 24 Kansas will host No. 25 Oklahoma Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in a game televised on ABC. The Jayhawks are 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 Conference play.
