Four Kansas Tennis Players Qualify for Regionals

LAWRENCE, Kan. – –

Kansas tennis sophomores Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert and freshmen Sara Lazarevic and Victoria Khanevskaya will travel to Norman, Okla. to compete in ITA Regionals Oct. 22-25.

The four Jayhawks were chosen out of the top players from over 20 Division I schools, including six teams that finished in the ITA top 79 in 2008-2009.

All four teammates will compete in singles and doubles play. Morozova, Lazarevic and Wilbert all come off undefeated singles performances in the KU Invitational last month. Together, the four players have tallied an impressive 15-5 record for the fall season.

In doubles play, both teams of Morozova and Lazarevic and Wilbert and Khanevskaya enter the tournament with an undefeated record for the fall season.

Main draw competition will begin Thursday at 9 a.m. and conclude Sunday. Sunday’s singles finalists and doubles champion will travel to Yale University in New Haven, Conn. to compete in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships Nov. 5-8.
