Men's Golf In 8th at The Nelson Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. — The Kansas men’s golf team is in 8th place, in a 16-team field, after one round of the Nelson Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. Kansas opened the three-day tournament with a first round total of 287 at the par-69 Stanford Golf Club.

“This course is playing pretty tough,” head coach Ross Randall said. “We didn’t play very well today, but hopefully we will get it turned around tomorrow.”

Georgia State leads the tournament after a first round 275, 12 strokes better than KU.

Sophomore Tyler Docking leads the Jayhawks after firing an opening round of 68 and is currently tied for fourth. Senior Andrew Price and sophomore Barrett Martens each shot 72 to tie for 35th. Sophomore Gary Woodland shot a 75 and is currently tied for 61st. Senior Kevin Ward shot a 76 and is tied for 73rd.
