Two Jayhawks go 1-1 in Regional Singles Play

NORMAN, Okla. – –

Sophomores Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert each tallied a win in the first round of singles play in today’s regional tournament in Norman, Okla.

Morozova defeated Peta Forsyth of Minnesota in two sets while Wilbert defeated Nina Sertic of Kansas State in three sets.

The second round of singles play proved less successful as Morozova and Wilbert both lost.

Both doubles teams went down in the first round, but will continue play in the consolation round tomorrow. Freshman Sara Lazarevic and Morozova will face Saint Louis and freshman Victoria Khanevskaya and Wilbert will face Wichita State.

Lazarevic and Khanevskaya will also play in the consolation singles round. Lazarevic will play Oklahoma’s Teona Tsertsvadze and Khanevskaya will play Arkansas’ Claudine Paulson.
