No. 9 Texas A&M (4-0) defeated the Kansas Jayhawks (2-1), 133-106, Thursday night at Robinson Natatorium. Danielle Herrmann and Erin Mertz each earned two victories on the night, but the University of Kansas swimming and diving team could not overcome the Texas A&M Aggies who were strong in the distance free races.

Kansas was led by Herrmann who recorded an easy 2.3 second victory in the 200 yard IM. Her 200 yard IM time was a new Robinson Natatorium pool record. She followed that performance up with a 200 yard breaststroke victory.

The Kansas divers were once again a dominant force. Mertz and Meghan Proehl finished first and second in the 1m dive. Mertz also recorded a victory in the 3m dive.

Other strong performances came from Maria Mayrovich, who recorded two second place finishes in the 50 yard free and 100 yard free. Ashley Leidigh also recorded a second place finish in the 200 yard fly.

The Kansas women placed second in the 200 yard Medley Relay, but earned a victory against A&M in the 400 yard relay following a Texas A&M disqualification.

In other competition at Robinson Natatorium, the Texas A&M women defeated Missouri 135-104 and the No. 21 Missouri men upset the No. 18 Texas A&M men 143.5-90.5.

Following the Big 12 Relays, Kansas will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 1 at Missouri. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Kansas’ next home dual is Nov. 7 against Drury, scheduled for 6 p.m.
