Jayhawks to Host Buffaloes on Saturday

Oct. 25, 2006

LAWRENCE, Kan. — After a string of heart-breaking losses, the University of Kansas (3-5, 0-4 Big 12) looks for its first Big 12 win of the season when it hosts Colorado (1-7, 1-3 Big 12) on Oct. 28. Kickoff from KU’s Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Jayhawks enter the game against the Buffaloes looking to snap a four-game losing skid after falling to Baylor, 36-35, Saturday in Waco, Texas. Kansas took an 18-point lead into the fourth quarter, but BU scored 19 unanswered points in the final 9:22 of the game to rally for the win. Senior running back Jon Cornish ran for a career-best 196 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns in the contest.

After dropping its first six games of the season, Colorado defeated Texas Tech on Oct. 14 to claim its first win of the year. The Buffs enter the game against Kansas on the heels of a 24-3 setback last weekend at Oklahoma.

“Colorado is a good football team, especially on the defensive side of the ball,” KU Head Coach Mark Mangino said at his weekly press conferece on Tuesday. “They have a lot of talent and you can see they are progressing each and every week. They pose a good challenge for us.”
