KU Swimming and Diving to Host Arkansas Thursday, Nebraska-Omaha Saturday

Oct. 31, 2007

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Swimming and diving head coach Clark Campbell and the Kansas swimming and diving team will play host to two meets in KU’s Robinson Natatorium this week. The Jayhawks will host the Arkansas Lady Razorbacks Thursday, Nov.1, at 4 p.m., and the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks Saturday, Nov.3, at 10 a.m.

Due to the Kansas men’s basketball exhibition game Thursday at 7 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse, parking lots 34, 61 and 62, east of Robinson Natatorium, are reserved for swimming and diving parents, spectators and media.

The Jayhawks enter competition Thursday with the Lady Razorbacks after being edged by Missouri, 162-138, in their Big 12 opener Oct.26. Kansas stands strong at 1-1 in dual meet competition and 0-1 in Big 12 action. Despite the loss to Missouri, KU looks to make improvements for this week’s competition. Junior Maria Mayrovich will be back in action after setting a pool record and career-best time in the 200-yard free (1:48.85) against the Tigers.

Kansas will match up with Arkansas for the second time in four seasons, the last time being January 29, 2005, when the Jayhawks defeated the Lady Razorbacks, 163-133, in Fayetteville.

KU visited Nebraska-Omaha in October of last season, defeating the Mavericks, 220-79. Kansas swept the double-dual between Nebraska-Omaha and South Dakota State, recording victories in every race of the meet. In addition, current senior co-captain Lauren Bonfe set a HPER pool record in the 100-yard backstroke (57.81) and Mayrovich captured first in the 100-yard free (51.38), good for a second HPER pool record.
