Kansas Takes Top Three Spots in Varsity Eight Race at Frostbite Regatta

WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas Rowing had a strong day at the Frostbite Regatta in Wichita, Kan., on Sunday, taking places first through third in the Varsity Eight race. The Jayhawks also won the Open Double race and had boats place in the top three in every race they entered.

The Jayhawks placed second in the Lightweight Four and in the Varsity Four as well as tied for third in the Varstiy Four.

“We had a really good weekend,” said head coach Rob Catloth. “We performed really well and we have made a lot of improvement in the last month.”

In its first competition of the season, the novice team had an impressive showing, placing second in both the Novice Eight and Second Novice Eight.

“It was a good start for the novice team in their first event of the year,” said Catloth. “They showed good promise for how they will do in the spring.”

Kansas will wrap up the fall season on Saturday, Nov. 8, against Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., at the Sunflower Showdown.
