Kansas In Eighth At Del Walker Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH, Calif. –

The University of Kansas men’s golf team is in eighth place, in a 12-team field, after two rounds of the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif. Kansas shot an opening round of 291 followed by a 292 for a two round total of 583 at the par-71 Virginia Country Club.

“We put up some big numbers on key holes,” head coach Ross Randall said. “We made a lot of birdies, but we just need to keep our mistakes down. We will come out tomorrow, improve and move up the leaderboard.”

Lamar is in first place with a 555, followed by Houston with a 563.

Junior Gary Woodland is in a tie for second after firing back-to-back rounds of 68. The Berryton, Kan. native had 13 birdies in the first two rounds. Senior Pete Krsnich is in a tie for for 30th after rounds of 74 and 73. Senior Luke Trammell shot rounds of 72 and 76 and is in a tie for 38th. Senior Ryan Rainer carded rounds of 78 and 75 to put himself in a tie for 56th. Freshman Zach Pederson is in a tie for 62nd after rounds of 77 and 80. Sophomore Joey Mundy, playing as an individual, is also in a tie for 62nd after rounds of 79 and 78.
