KU Finishes Seventh At Del Walker Intercollegiate

Long Beach, Calif. –

The University of Kansas men’s golf team finished in seventh place, in a 12-team field, at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif. Kansas shot an final round of 286 for a three round total of 869 at the par-71 Virginia Country Club.

“We improved a little today,” head coach Ross Randall said. “We have some things we need to work on over the winter to get ourselves ready for the spring.”

Lamar took home first place with an 831, followed by Houston with an 848.

Junior Gary Woodland finished in a tie for second after firing a 69 in the final round. The Berryton, Kan. native had four birdies in the final round and 17 birdies overall. Senior Pete Krsnich placed in a tie for for 30th after a final round 72. Senior Luke Trammell shot a 73 in the final round to place in a tie for 38th. Senior Ryan Rainer carded a final round of 72 to put himself in a tie for 48th. Sophomore Joey Mundy, playing as an individual, tied for 61st after a 74 in the third round. Freshman Zach Pederson tied for 62nd after a 75.

That wraps up the fall season for the Jayhawks. They will begin the spring season at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Kona, Hawaii on Feb. 8-10.
