Kansas Sophomore Brandon Rush Named to Associated Press Preseason All-American Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas sophomore Brandon Rush has been named to the 2006-07 Associated Press Preseason All-American team which came out Tuesday.

Rush joins North Carolina sophomore Tyler Hansbrough as two underclassmen listed on the five-person national team. Others include juniors Joakim Noah of Florida, Ronald Steele of Alabama and Glen Davis of LSU.

Co-Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year with sophomore teammate Julian Wright, Rush earned all-conference first team accolades last season where he led Kansas in scoring at 13.5 points per game and rebounding with a 5.9 average.

The last Jayhawk to be named to the preseason AP All-American team was Wayne Simien in 2004-05. Simien went on to earn consensus All-American accolades following 2004-05.
