Rowers Take on Kansas State This Weekend

Nov. 10, 2006

Kansas rowing will conclude its Fall season Nov. 11 when it travels to Manhattan to take on the Kansas State Wildcats in the 2006 Sunflower Showdown. The Jayhawks are looking to build upon last year’s 14-10 victory.

The regatta will take place on the Tuttle Creek Lake Reservoir starting at 10 a.m. with the Second Varsity Eight race and conclude following the 10:50 a.m. Third Varsity Eight. The marquee race of the Sunflower Showdown is the First Varsity Eight race because it worth 8 points. Other races included are the First Novice Eight, Second Novice Eight and Varsity Four.

Last year, the Jayhawks defeated Kansas State 14-10 to end a Wildcat three year winning streak. Kansas took the First Varsity Eight race by over a 10 second margin. The Jayhawks also took first in the Second Novice Eight and in the Varsity Four.
