Kansas senior midfielder Monica Dolinsky has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s Team of the Year. Dolinsky was an honorable mention selection to the 50-player team, which is made up of the top Division I women’s soccer student-athletes in the country.

Dolinsky, a senior midfielder from Carmel, Ind., scored six goals and tied a career high with ten assists for the Jayhawks in 2009. She was instrumental in the team’s strong finish, collecting assists in KU’s final three matches. The senior set the Kansas record for assists in a career (30) and became the first Jayhawk to record 10 or more assists twice in her career. Her 30 career assists rank 17th all-time in Big 12 history.

The senior also ended her Jayhawk career ranked second in career points (76) and third in career goals (23).

Dolinsky becomes the first Kansas player honored on the Team of the Year by TopDrawerSoccer.com, a website run by the United States Football Club which devotes its coverage to the sport of soccer at all levels. Dolinsky was twice named to the site’s Team of the Week this season.

Kansas finished the season at 12-8-2, its eighth winning season in 11 years under Head Coach Mark Francis.
